OUR MISSION
The Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County, Inc. is committed to serving the success and growth of Baldwin County, its residents, businesses, and partnering organizations through appropriate solid waste disposal and recycling initiatives.
BUILDING A CLEANER, GREENER BALDWIN COUNTY
WHO WE ARE
We were established in May 2023 as the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County (SWDA), a public, nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping Baldwin County clean, sustainable, and thriving.
We manage the County’s Magnolia Sanitary Landfill, two construction and demolition landfills, a transfer station, a renewable natural gas (RNG) plant, a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), 22 recycling drop-off locations, and six Centers for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRMs).
Through responsible waste management, recycling programs, and energy recovery initiatives, we proudly serve the residents, businesses, and communities of Baldwin County. Every day, we work to protect our environment and support the county’s continued growth.
OUR HISTORY
Since 1970, we have been committed to building a cleaner, safer Baldwin County through reliable waste management and environmental services. What began as a small effort to address solid waste has grown into a comprehensive system serving tens of thousands of residents and businesses.
Today, we:
Serve more than 55,000 customers each week
Operate three landfills, a transfer station, two CHaRM facilities, and 22 unmanned locations
Continue expanding curbside recycling across Baldwin County

At the Solid Waste Disposal Authority of Baldwin County, our community is at the heart of everything we do. From expanding recycling access to supporting environmental education and clean-energy innovation, we design our efforts to serve the people and places that make Baldwin County special.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The SWDA Board of Directors consists of five members appointed by the Baldwin County Commission. The fifth member is the current Industrial and Civic Division Commissioner.
OUR DEPARTMENTS
Across SWDA’s departments, our teams work together to keep Baldwin County clean, efficient, and environmentally responsible. From providing weekly service to more than 55,000 households to operating three landfills and a transfer station, as well as advancing recycling, education, and sustainability efforts, every department plays a vital role in serving our community.
