Safe, Responsible Waste Management for Baldwin County

We operate multiple landfill facilities across Baldwin County, each designed to handle specific types of waste in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible way.

TRANSFER STATION
Convenient Waste Disposal for
North Baldwin County

The Bay Minette Transfer Station serves as a convenient service location for residents and municipalities in North Baldwin County, helping reduce the need to travel time. By providing a closer option for waste disposal, it improves accessibility while maintaining efficient and responsible waste handling.

RENEWABLE NATURAL GAS (RNG)
Reducing Greenhouse Gases

Our RNG Plant at the Magnolia Landfill turns landfill gas into CLEAN energy! The process of renewable natural gas (RNG) reduces greenhouse gases and creates a sustainable energy source helping to fuel Baldwin County. By turning waste into energy, the RNG plant helps protect our environment and makes the most of every resource that comes through the landfill.

FAQs

Renewable Natural Gas, or RNG, is a clean, sustainable energy source made from the decomposition of organic materials—like food waste, yard waste, and other natural matter. When these materials break down, they produce biogas. That biogas is then purified to remove impurities like carbon dioxide and water, creating RNG that’s nearly identical to traditional natural gas.

Because RNG is produced from renewable, organic waste instead of fossil fuels, it’s considered a renewable energy source. It can be used just like regular natural gas—to heat homes, power businesses, and even fuel vehicles.

RNG is renewable because it’s made from materials that naturally decompose and can be replenished over time—like food scraps, plants, and other organic waste. Instead of letting that waste release methane gas into the atmosphere, RNG projects capture it and convert it into usable energy.

This process not only creates a cleaner energy source but also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and supports a more sustainable energy cycle.

At the landfill, organic waste naturally breaks down underground and produces biogas—often called landfill gas. The RNG plant captures that gas and cleans it through a process called conditioning or upgrading, which removes water, carbon dioxide, and other trace elements.

The result is a purified gas, known as biomethane, that meets the same quality standards as conventional natural gas. This renewable gas can then be used to generate electricity, power homes and businesses, or even fuel natural gas vehicles like the sanitation trucks that service Baldwin County.

By turning waste into energy, the RNG plant helps protect our environment and makes the most of every resource that comes through the landfill.

This process captures gases produced by the landfill and converts them into usable energy that can power homes and businesses. By doing so, it transforms what would otherwise be a negative environmental impact into a positive resource for the community.
